Midwest Docks LLC
We build our boat docks one at a time
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHY CHOOSE A FLOATING DOCK VS. A STATIONARY DOCK?
A floating dock will fluctuate with the rise and fall of the water. No need to worry when there is to much or not enough water. Floating docks are very versatile and can be moved to any location on the lake.
WHAT SIZE DOCK DO I NEED?
We recommend the dock to be at least a foot longer (in the front and in the back) than your boat, including the motor. Just to make sure your boat will be protected from the elements we extend the roof out an additional 18 inches.
CAN I ADD ON TO MY DOCK IN THE FUTURE?
Yes. Our docks are designed so that the roof is up and over from the shore to the water (the gable ends of the roof are on the left and right side of the dock) making it easy to add to the roof for an additional slip or simply to add a swim dock.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO INSTALL MY DOCK?
For a single slip dock it normally takes 2-3 days. For a double well dock it normally takes an additional day. The weather plays a big part in the installation time.
CAN I ADD A LIFT TO MY DOCK IN THE FUTURE?
Yes. If you are thinking on adding a lift in the future we suggest the roof on the dock be built taller to accommodate for being able to leave the tops up on pontoon/tritoon boats and boats with tall ski racks.
WHAT TYPES OF DECKING/FLOORING DO YOU OFFER?
We offer a 30 year treated 5/4 lumber, limited life time 1″ composite, or 2’x2’x2″ concrete squares.
WHAT TYPES OF MATERIAL ARE USED TO CONSTRUCT THE DOCK?
Our docks have an all welded 3/16″ steel frame. We use 3″, 2 1/2″ and 1 1/2″ angle iron for the 12″ frame. We then sent all the medal parts to be hot-dipped in a galvanized solution to prevent rusting. ; 2 1/2″ hot-dipped galvanized post for the roof supports; 9″ galvanized roof perlins; 40 year 26 ga. painted steel roof sheeting; and heavy mill encapsulated flotation. All nuts, bolts, and washers are hot-dipped galvanized as well.
WHY IS MIDWEST DOCKS BETTER THAN ALL THE REST?
We take pride in the quality of our product and offer personalized, one-on-one customer service. We use higher grade, quality, made in the USA materials. We still build our docks one at a time.
CAN AN INDIVIDUAL PURCHASE A DOCK OF THEIR CHOICE AND ASSEMBLE IT THEMSELVES?
Yes. We offer step by step instructions on how to properly assemble our docks. Anyone who is good with their hands and mechanically able, can have a single well dock together in 2-3 days.
